Chase the Northern Lights by snowmobile — fast, flexible and unforgettable. Choose to drive your own (valid driving licence required) or ride comfortably in the passenger sled while an expert guide leads you beneath star-filled Arctic skies.

Our abisko aurora snowmobile approach is simple: we track clear gaps in real time, stop the moment the aurora appears, and allow time at each stop so you can capture your own photos from Swedish Lapland.

Out on the trail, the Arctic night feels calm and electric at once. The engine hum, the crunch of snow and the wide silhouette of Abisko National Park set the scene. Halfway, we pause at a sheltered spot for a steaming hot drink and a light snack — quick warmth, a few laughs, then back to the hunt. Many guests say that during an abisko aurora snowmobile night, time seems to slow while the sky builds toward that perfect burst of colour.

Keep your lens ready: reindeer, moose and ptarmigan often cross our path. When conditions allow, we make safe, spectacular stops — frozen rivers and wind-sculpted ice — so you can work at your own pace away from the road. Safety and comfort lead every decision, and we allow time for guests to shoot independently. Bring a tripod if you like — it’s ideal for long exposures on an abisko aurora snowmobile night.

No fixed loop: we adapt the route live to chase clearer skies and maximize your chances (aurora can’t be guaranteed).

Start time: typically 18:00–20:00 depending on season and weather. Early winter often needs later starts for full darkness; in December we can start from 18:00.
Meeting point: We meet outside the Abisko Guesthouse reception.
Duration: about 3 hours, including photo stops and a warm-up break.
Group size: small groups for comfort, safety and flexibility.
Who can drive: valid driving licence required; otherwise ride in the sled.
Routing: We do not follow a fixed track. We adjust our route during the evening to look for clearer skies. Distance and direction depend on weather, time and safety (aurora sightings can’t be guaranteed).
