Experience a unique dining adventure starting at our BBQ hut beneath Abisko Guesthouse, overlooking the stunning Lake Torne träsk. Indulge in a traditional Sami meal called ‘souvas’, crafted from locally sourced reindeer meat and accompanied by vegetables.

Watch as our skilled guides prepare the meal in the center of the room over an open fire, following age-old Sami cooking techniques. Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of the Swedish Sami people as our guides share fascinating stories about the region.

With the crackling fire casting a warm glow and the serene surroundings, guests find the experience both delightful and enlightening. Once satiated, there will be a short brake before we venture out in minibuses to seek the perfect vantage point for witnessing the mesmerizing aurora borealis. Rest assured, we stop promptly once the lights appear, allowing ample time for photography. For those without equipment, camera and tripod rentals are available, though a compatible SD card or MicroSD with adapter is essential. For dietary preferences, the food is gluten and lactose free with vegetarian options obtainable upon request. Inform us in advance of any special dietary requirements for a seamless dining experience. Commencing from the reception area of Abisko Guesthouse, we also offer pick-up services from STF with prior arrangement.

Abisko is one of the best places in the world to experience the Northern Lights

The sky above Abisko is lit up with the Aurora (northern lights) from September to April and, for eight weeks in the summer, midnight sun. Experience them from the top of the swedish Lapland mountains, from a dog sled, hiking, ice-climbing, fishing and while you BBQ under the spectacular sky.
